The Wedgie project began in 2019 when Fredrickson was exploring and photographing ideas in his basement studio. He was interested in creating work that was figurative, using anonymous subjects, in order to a create a fantasy that people could step into. Fredrickson was drawn to how diverse the wedgie fetish is, going beyond gender and sexual orientation, it touches upon many themes such as bullying, humor, dominance, submissive, pleasure, pain and the erotic. He chose to create the wedgies from an erotic perspective to include themes of car play, exhibitionism, voyeurism and the act of photographing as erotic play.
