British born Paul McDonald is a socially engaged artist, educator and curator based in Sydney, Australia, whose work explores masculinity and mental health.

His Study of Self series explores masculinity, loss and the artist’s lived experiences through the presentation of archival work, portraiture and landscape. Created over 10 years, Study of Self builds on a series he commenced while studying for his Master of Arts. After graduating, he decided to continue exploring these themes and complete the body of work. 

McDonald's work has been published internationally, exhibited in galleries, public spaces and festivals (including the Australian Centre for Photography and the National Museum, Beijing, China), and is held in public and private collections.
